After all the rain and all the other excitement in Room 13 we finally got the rest of our chalk portraits done. Our display is going to look awesome when they're all up. Make sure you come into the classroom to have a look :D.

The Year of the Dragon
Last Friday Room 13 was wrestled away from Mrs. Clarke by Ms. Harland. She had an awesome idea for some art which (when finished) is going to adorn our office area.
2012 is the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese zodiac and we did some art that was inspired by this. Have a look at some of our amazing results!
We had a great time Ms. Harland. We hope you can come back again...if Mrs. Clarke will let you of course :).

Kereru Swimming Day
On Monday 20 of February 2012 Room 13 went to the pools. When we got there we had a meeting. All of us had to go into at least 1 race. I went into 6 events. I came 1st in 4 events and 2nd in 2 events. It was a fun day for all, good or bad swimmers, everyone was happy!

Chalk Art Portraits
Another busy week, meet the teacher evening, orienteering, chalk art and almost a Wheelay. Phew. Just to tide you over until we get some proper, juicy student writing on here. Here are some of the wonderful chalk art portrait creations we've completed this week.

Our Enlargement Art
We took an interesting piece of Van gogh art - Starry night and made a class piece of art using enlargement. Here's what we did.
First we had a look at what 'starry night' looked like. We cut the poster into 24 pieces (that's how many students are in the class).
Mrs Sentch gave us A4 sized paper with grids on them along with one of the cut 24 pieces.
We drew a grid on the picture.
Then we drew and enlarged the piece of the picture we had on the A4 piece of paper.
When we finished we coloured in the art with pastels.
When everyone had finished we put it on the wall like a puzzle.

Kereru Sports Rotation
Mrs Clarke here again. We've been so busy getting all our class routines in place and trying to fix a pesky screenshot problem on our classroom computers that we've just been too busy to get students writing on the blog.
But don't fret - the post about our enlargement art is coming tomorrow, promise! Also, be sure to check in at our 'Photo a day' page on our blog as we will be taking a photo every day to document our year at school.
To tide you over here are some great pics of our first Kereru sports rotation for the year. Photos taken by our lovely Fabienne. Enjoy.
